5 Reasons to Vape Your Weed Rather Than Smoke It

For as long as we can remember the preferred choice of partaking in marijuana is by smoking.  Usually this is done by rolling a joint or smoking out of a pipe.

Today there are many ways to get a quality high, with one of the most innovative being vaping.  Vaping has become a popular way of inhaling cannabis.  The vaping process is different from other ways of ingesting cannabis in that there are basically mini ovens in each vaporizer that turns the active ingredients in cannabis into vapor.

We think that any who smokes weed on a regular basis should seriously consider picking up a top of the line portable vaporizer.  Be sure to pick up a vape that can vaporize both waxes and dry herb.

Here are the five reasons to vape your weed rather than smoke it:

1. It is Better for Your Health

Let’s start off by making something clear: while smoking tobacco has been clearly shown to increase rates of lung cancer (among many other awful diseases), smoking cannabis has never been shown to increase risks of lung cancer.

That being said, when you burn weed by smoking it you produce tar and other chemicals that end up in your lungs.  Whether or not science has proven a correlation between smoking cannabis and lung cancer we’d still prefer to play it safe.

Vaping provides a safer alternative.  The vapor that comes from the low heat of a vaporizer does not create this tar making it much safer to inhale.

2. Less Odors

I for one enjoy the smells and aromas that come from smoking cannabis.  For some it may not be as pleasant, but as I became a smoker I enjoyed the aromas as an acquired taste.

While I like the smells I also know that with wide ranging legal status of cannabis, releasing olfactory evidence could get you in a good bit of legal trouble.  Bottom line is that if you plan to use cannabis in public or anywhere else where cops may be around, then it is much better to vape.

Vaping weed is basically odorless making it much more difficult to recognize.  Given the similar looks of e-cigarettes and vaporizers, you can remain discrete while getting your dose of herb.

3. More Efficient

You need less herb to get an effective dose when vaping when compared to smoking or eating.  This means that your herb stash will last longer.  While vaporizers are not cheap, they will quickly pay for themselves with because of this greater efficiency.

On the flip side we suggest spending some significant coin on your vape as again it will help even more with efficiency, as well as deliver a more even “pull”.

4. More Versatile

When it comes to the other methods of ingesting cannabis each piece of equipment can do one thing.  A bong can only act as a bong and rolling papers can only roll.

But this is different with many vaporizers.  In fact, both dry herb and extract oils can be used in most vaporizers today.  This versatility is a big step in the right direction for all stoner-kind.

5. Bells and Whistles

While cheaper vaporizers are pretty plain, the higher levels vapes have some pretty technologically advanced features.  Some of this includes being able to control the temperature of your vape digitally as well as apps that come with your vaporizer.

Not only that but some of the better quality vaporizers also have smooth styling and look cool.

Summary

The truth is that cannabis in the 21st century needed an upgrade and vaping has taken the crown.  We still like to go old school and roll a joint from time to time, but vaping is now our go to method of getting a buzz.  As more states legalize and vaping manufacturers get better, we are sure that the pros of going with a vape will only become more numerous in the future.

Legalized Cannabis Weeds Out Opioid Epidemic

According to a new study from the University of California, San Diego shows that states that have legalized medical marijuana use have seen an overall decrease of opioid addiction of 23 percent and hospitalizations from opioid overdoes drop 13 percent.

At the same time, hospitalizations for cannabis use did not show an increase in the states which have legalized medical marijuana.  This was a primary concern stated by those who are against the legalization of cannabis.

Data from the CDC shows that there were 3 deaths per 100,000 people in the USA due to opioid overdose, that number increased to 9 deaths by 2014 and continues to rise.  Amazingly, there are some signs that the opioid epidemic is a uniquely American phenomenon, as research shows that Americans consume 80% of the worlds opioids!

If you are wondering why this is primarily and American problem allow me to explain.  Big Pharma has a huge influence on American politics and policy.  In fact, all of those stupid drug commercials you see on television are actually outlawed in every other developed nation except for New Zealand.  You can imagine that pharmaceutical companies have deep pockets to use for advertising when you consider that pain prescriptions are a $24 billon dollar market!

Oh, and for those who are already hooked on opioids let’s not forget that you can now take a pill to deal with that pesky opioid induced constipation!

I’m not sure how many studies that need to be published before our leaders wake up.  The fact is that cannabis can be a big part of a real plan to lessen the use of opioids and it is time for our government and those who are supposed to represent the people to come to terms with reality, cannabis is a solution not a problem.

How To Clean an Herb Grinder

Probably the most important factor to consider once you’ve got the perfect herb grinder is to figure out how to make it last as long as possible.  The key to keeping an herb grinder in tip top shape really comes down to regular cleanings.

If you use your grinder on a regular basis like we do, then you know that over time kief and residue can gunk up your grinder in its teeth and grooves.  Getting this material off your grinder will get it back to running like new.

Once You Get Your Grinder, Clean It

When you get your metal herb grinder the first thing you are going to want to do is clean it.  This is because the grinder can have some dirt and metal pieces left over from the manufacturing process and you do not want to smoke this stuff!

To initially clean your grinder unscrew each piece and set each piece out over a paper towel.  Shake out each piece of the grinder to get any loose metal shavings out.  After shaking, use rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl alcohol) and a Q-tip to get in between the teeth and screw grooves.

After cleaning with the Q-tip and rubbing alcohol rinse in warm water and allow the grinder to air dry.

Cleaning the Grinder After Use

Over time your grinder will collect residue and gunk from herb, which will cause your grinder to get stuck, squeak, and ultimately not work as well as it did when you first got it.  At this point it is time to give your herb grinder a quality cleaning so you can bring it back to grinding like new.

Step 1:

Take apart your grinder and place each piece into a freezer safe container, place the bag into the freezer, and wait for an hour.

Step 2:

Take out the bag with your grinder inside out of the freezer and place each piece over a cookie sheet.  Tap each grinder piece to knock loose the frozen residue and kief onto the cookie sheet.

Step 3:

Use a toothbrush to brush out the residue on to the cookie sheet so that you can save the sweet kief for your next joint.

Step 4:

You have a couple options with step 4.  You can either wash the grinder under warm water with soap, or you can soak the grinder in rubbing alcohol for 30 minutes to an hour depending on how thorough of a clean you want.

Summary

There you have it.  Following our simple four step directions you can get your grinder clean any time.  This will go a long way to preserving your grinder and keeping it in working order for years to come.  Please remember that while cleaning your grinder is important, it is just as important to make sure to buy a quality grinder with top of line materials to begin with.  Cleaning a subpar grinder might help, but it will not solve the main issue of having a crappy grinder.  Hope this guide helps, if you have questions let us know in the comments!

Don’t be tricked by this myth.

There is a video online about the best grinders that states that aluminum grinders are unsafe. That video is false and, in fact, a cleverly disguised advertisement. The video will not be imbedded to from here because doing so would promote it on the YouTube and Google search results. If you have seen the video, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, don’t worry, there’s nothing to be concerned about and you can skip this article. Continue reading
